When does Steam Next Fest October 2026 start?

Valve schedules this edition from October 19, 2026 at 10:00 AM PDT to October 26 at 10:00 AM PDT. That is 17:00 UTC on both dates, or October 20 at 01:00 through October 27 at 01:00 in Beijing. The date changes overnight in China; an October 19 US start does not mean a Beijing morning launch.

This is a week of demos for upcoming games. A Next Fest appearance is not the full game’s release date. Valve’s edition page is the source for the schedule; this briefing was updated on October 19 UTC and the documentation does not specify its own publication date.

Find a demo you can actually play

Open Steam’s Next Fest event page when the event starts, choose a game that interests you, then open its public store page. Check that a demo is available to download and that its listed operating system and requirements suit your computer. A trailer, a coming-soon date or an announcement alone does not establish that a playable build is available.

Some demos can be released before the festival. Steamworks allows developers to publish approved demos ahead of the start; the official event documentation asks participants to make their demos live before the event begins. If a particular demo is missing before 17:00 UTC, check its store page again after the scheduled start.

Use the demo to make a smaller, clearer decision

Before downloading, pick one question you want the demo to answer: whether the controls feel right, whether a co-op session is practical, or whether text is readable on your display. After playing, record the build version and settings beside your notes. These are suggested checks, not results from GameInfo testing the participating games.

Use GameInfo’s release calendar to compare a selected game’s announced launch window, and its game records for dated specifications when a record exists. The catalogue is selective: a missing game record does not mean a demo is unavailable, and a full-game price history does not confirm demo performance.

Will demos remain after October 26?

Do not assume every demo will stay online. Valve’s general Next Fest guide leaves the decision to developers and encourages them to communicate if they plan to deactivate a demo. Check the individual game’s announcement when planning a later session.

This briefing provides the official schedule and a practical way to check availability. It is not a ranked list of demos, a hands-on recommendation or a promise that a particular game will run on your hardware.
